Along with all these festivities of course have been showers & parties for the future brides & grooms & expectant parents! One of the cutest ones was a Baylor themed gender reveal party for a camp friend and precious mama to be. Pinterest worthy my friends. SO adorable.
We had the the opportunity to throw a Stock the Bar shower for our dear friends that are tying the knot later this summer. You may remember we threw a similar party for some of our other friends last year and had a blast with some fun decorations and such! This time we opted for a slightly different arrangement as we had a few more people ( and it was our first “event” in our new house) and got a pony keg, had some awesome punch, played corn hole, and just had a wonderful time showering some of the greatest people we know with love & spirits.
This time we did the invitations with a bit of a “manly” feel since most all things shower related are so girly and let’s just be honest, more focused on the bride to be. I found these on Zazzle.com and they weren’t too expensive at all, especially since we ordered a bunch. Please disregard my makeshift boxes for the contact info 🙂 The complete invitations are really quite adorable. We also used old bottles (most of which we got from the recycling center in Mobile) as “vases” and the flowers we picked from the side of the road and our neighbor’s back yard (shh!). The banners were made from paper bags & I even made tissue pom pom balls I somehow managed to not get a picture of. Otherwise streamers and the food made for the remaining decor! Simple as can be.
Most recently I got to help with a baby shower for our sweet friends and fellow True Blood lovers we just recently left in Mobile. They are having little twin boys and goodness we couldn’t be more excited for them! As they are both Auburn graduates as well, the little ones were stocked up on orange and blue and all things Aubie and it was simply precious. The theme was rather Auburny as well and it all came together so well! The mommy to be has some pretty talented sisters..
I made the punch and the fruit kabobs for the shower and wanted to share the recipe as well because it was incredibly easy! Obviously for the kabobs just alternate colors of whatever fruit you are using. I’ve found grapes are the best to use on the ends since they hold well. The recipe for the punch is rather simple because you can mix it up right before you serve it and it looks a lot fancier than it really is 🙂
Ingredients:
- Roughly 60 oz orange juice
- Roughly 40 oz pineapple juice
- Roughly 5 oz lemon juice (fresh squeezed)
- Roughly 3 oz grenadine
- Stemless cherries (from the jar)
- Lime slices (wedges)
- Orange slices (round flat slices)
- Pour the juices and grenadine into a punchbowl or drink dispenser
- You can add champagne as well to the punch for other showers
- Stir well to mix together!
- Float fruit slices on top (oranges & limes) and pop in a good many cherries as well
- Serve in individual cups filled with ice

Great ideas! I work for CNN.com, and we're working on a story about gender-reveal parties for our new CNN Parents section — http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/living/cnn-parents/index.html. We're seeking photos, party tips and moment-we-found-out stories through CNN iReport, and would love to hear more about the Baylor-themed party from your or the parents-to-be! Here's the iReport assignment: http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/1010178.
Thanks, and I hope all is well!
